A maritime identity
For several generations, the sea has been at the heart of the Dalmard family history. As seafarers, the elders passed on a culture of commitment, tenacity and solidarity — values that still inspire Dalmard Marine today, a company founded in Paimpol over a century ago.
This maritime identity is also reflected in the choice to depict Saint Peter wearing a peacoat, a symbol of maritime clothing and a flagship product of the Dalmard company.
The statue thus pays tribute to generations of fishermen, particularly those from Paimpol, who, from the 19th century onwards, braved the cold seas of Iceland during long cod fishing trips.

A partnership as solid as granite
Dalmard Marine's support for the Vallée des Saints is long-standing, reflecting a partnership as solid as granite between the company and this iconic cultural site in Brittany. This link was already evident in 2018 with ‘La Traversée des Géants’, a landmark operation that enabled the statue of Saint Piran, the site's 100th giant, to travel from Cornwall to Brittany aboard the traditional sailing ship La Nébuleuse.
With the completion of Saint Pierre, a new stage has been added to this relationship, which is cultural, heritage-based and deeply Breton.

A ceremony marked by remembrance, heritage and the sea
The inauguration ceremony, held on 8 August 2025 at the Vallée des Saints site, brought together around thirty guests who came to see the statue of Saint Peter.
After its unveiling, several speeches punctuated the morning, including one by Maxime Dalmard, the company's director. A convivial moment brought this ceremony dedicated to memory, heritage and the sea to a close.
