Paimpol, cradle of the "Terre Neuvas"
Formed in 1922 in Paimpol (Brittany) by Armand Le Guen, the company produced oilskins and fisherman's smocks for those fishing off the coast of Iceland, who faced dreadful weather conditions in the seas of the High North.
The port of Paimpol is famous for having been from the beginning of the 19th century one of the ports of the "Great Fishing", off the coast of Iceland.
At the time, this fishing represented an important economic activity for the populations of the French coast. Nevertheless, the conditions on board were extremely difficult for the crew who had to deal with the Icelandic climate and work fifteen hours a day.
